The Cathedral, as well as being one of the most important places of worship in Palermo, is one of the most visited and most interesting monuments of Palermo. For here there is the tomb of Frederick II of Swabia, together with those of other very important rulers, as well as the famous "Assunzione" by Velasquez.
Equally important and worth a visit are the Church Martorana, Arab-Norman masterpiece, the Church of San Cataldo, famous for its domes, the Diocesan Museum, which houses works of art of great value, the Church of Jesus, the Church of Magione and the Church of St. Francesco.

The catacombs are very impressive, they are located inside the convent of Capuchin friars. The city markets are really colourful and a must-see as well: Ballarò, Capo, Vucciria and Borgo, are famous throughout the world, so much that they’ve become almost a kind of places of worship where time seems to stand still. They are really characteristic.

For those who want to relax, enjoying the sun and the sea, all you have to do is go to one of the beautiful beaches of Palermo. Cala Gallo and Sferracavallo are amazing, but it is Mondello beach, with its fine white sand and its crystal clear sea, to be to all intents and purposes the "official" beach of Palermo.
